The Manager’s Message to the Travelling Fans

Dear Kigezi Homeboyz FC Faithfuls, As we prepare to take on Kaaro Karungi FC in today’s Western Derby, I want to address you, the fans who give us the motivation to push harder in every game. This is not just any fixture. It’s a game steeped in rivalry, history, and significance for our season. Your presence today at Kyamate Playground will be pivotal, and I thank you in advance for standing with us once again.

In our last game against Kataka FC, we showed grit and determination to secure a 1-0 victory. It was not an easy win, but it was a crucial one. Ashirafu Nkurunungi’s goal came from a moment of brilliance and teamwork, with Seremba’s scorpion kick assist being one of the highlights of our season so far. That game taught us that while we are capable of creating chances, we need to be more clinical in front of goal. Today, that focus will be sharper, and I am confident the team will take its chances when they come.

Tactically, this is a game where precision and composure will be critical. We expect a physical battle, especially in midfield, and our defense will need to stay alert against their quick transitions. Akiramu is likely to partner Odeke at the back, forming a solid defensive pairing to handle the threats posed by their forwards. In midfield, our focus will be on quick ball recoveries and launching counterattacks to exploit any gaps they leave behind.

We have spent the last few training sessions fine-tuning our attacking movements. I know the fans want to see goals, and we have worked hard to ensure our forwards are in sync and ready to deliver. Seremba, Ashirafu, and our other attacking players are eager to prove their worth in this derby, and I have no doubt they will step up to the occasion.

Looking back at our meetings with Kaaro Karungi FC, we are fully aware of the challenge they present. Last season, they beat us 1-0 in the return leg, and they also edged us out on penalties in the 2022 Regional League playoffs. These results sting, but they also motivate us to leave everything on the pitch today. The players are determined to rewrite that narrative and give you a performance to be proud of.

Our expectations for today’s game are clear. We are here to fight for all three points. Winning this match would elevate us to fifth place, giving us the momentum we need in the race for promotion. More importantly, it would be a boost for you, our fans, who have been with us through every high and low this season.

While we are traveling without Omoding William and Atwongiire Aggrey due to school commitments, and with Ogwang Joel still recovering, the squad is well-prepared. The players available are hungry, focused, and ready to deliver.

Tushabe Denis,

Head Coach- Kigezi HomeBoyz FC.
