KIGEZI HOMEBOYZ FC 1-1 ONDUPARAKA FC: MATCH REPORT

Kigezi HomeBoyz FC endured another frustrating evening at Al-Madinah Stadium, drawing 1-1 against Onduparaka FC despite dominating the game. The team’s lack of cutting-edge in front of goal proved costly, as they settled for a single point.

Match Recap

First Half: Dominance Without Reward

The Gorillas started with intent, controlling possession and creating early chances. Charles Waibi, celebrating his birthday, produced a masterclass performance. In the 20th minute, he weaved past six opponents and set up Elia, whose effort hit the post, with Seremba Joseph firing the rebound over. Despite their dominance, Kigezi went into halftime level at 0-0.

Second Half: Moments of Joy and Frustration

Changes at halftime paid off when Derrick Mudali, headed home a precise cross from Waibi in the 56th minute. The joy was short-lived as Onduparaka equalized in the 65th minute. Late efforts, including a strike from Beinomugisha Timothy, failed to find the target, and the game ended in a stalemate.

Match Insights from the Coach and Captain

Coach Tushabe Denis reflected on the match with mixed emotions:

“The boys played their hearts out, and our dominance was clear from start to finish. We created several chances but lacked the clinical edge needed to secure victory. Waibi was outstanding, and I commend his effort on the pitch today. However, we need to work on converting our chances into goals. We cannot afford to keep dropping points, and we’ll address this in training.”

Captain Tukei Jamesnshared his perspective:

“We are disappointed with the result, but I am proud of the effort my teammates put in. Waibi’s perfomance was exceptional, and he deserved a win on his birthday. We’ve got top-quality players, but results aren’t going our way. As a team, we need to stay focused and fight harder in the upcoming games.”
