As part of our pre-season preparations, Kigezi HomeBoyz Football Club will host StarTimes Uganda Premier League outfit Mbarara City FC this Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Kigezi HomeBoyz Al-Madinah Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 PM.
This will not be the first time we are facing off against the Ankole Lions in friendly matches. Ahead of the current campaign, we played two encounters with them at the beginning of this season—one at home and another away—although we narrowly lost both games.
Mbarara City FC is gearing up for the second round of their league games, which start in just two weeks, while Kigezi HomeBoyz FC awaits the release of the second-round fixtures for the FUFA Big League.
This fixture is crucial as it not only serves as a test of readiness for our squad but also provides an opportunity to evaluate the performance of players currently on trial. The fixture also carries the excitement of a derby, with both teams hailing from the same region.
Kigezi HomeBoyz FC has had an active break during this transfer window, with management working hard to recruit new talent. Last Sunday, the team played a friendly match against Boona FM Select in Rukungiri, which ended in a goalless draw.
