Kigezi HomeBoyz FC 2-0 Ntugasaze FC: Seremba Shines in Opening Day Victory.
Kigezi HomeBoyz FC kicked off their 2024/2025 FUFA Big League campaign with a convincing 2-0 win over Ntugasaze FC at Kigezi HomeBoyz Al-Madinah Stadium, Kabale. The Gorillas dominated from the start, with Seremba Joseph starring as the hero of the day, scoring both goals to secure a comfortable win.
First Half:
The game began at a steady pace, but Kigezi HomeBoyz gradually took control. In the 27th minute, Timothy Beinomugisha made an impressive run down the right wing, bending in a perfect cross that found Seremba Joseph in the box. The midfielder calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net, giving Kigezi HomeBoyz the lead.
The Gorillas continued to press but were unable to add to their tally in the first half. Goalkeeper Tukei was called into action a couple of times and produced some crucial saves to keep the lead intact.
Second Half:
Ntugasaze FC tried to fight back after the break, but Kigezi’s defense, marshaled by Kemis and Akiramu, stood firm. Elia’s presence in midfield helped keep control, while Charles Waibi, playing on the left, put in a strong shift with some crucial recoveries.
Substitutions:
- 57’ | ↩️ Hakim, Timothy, Elia | ↪️ Agaba, Ogwang, Simon
- 79’ | ↩️ Jonathan | ↪️ Mudali
The game saw a triple substitution in the 57th minute, with Agaba, Ogwang, and Simon coming on to freshen up the team. The changes helped maintain the momentum as Kigezi HomeBoyz pushed for a second goal.
As the match headed into stoppage time, Seremba Joseph sealed the victory with a stunning long-range effort from near his own 18-yard box. Spotting the opposing goalkeeper out of position, Seremba unleashed a powerful strike that sailed into the net, a goal worthy of a “Goal of the Season” contender.
Man of the Match:
Unsurprisingly, Seremba Joseph was named Man of the Match for his two-goal performance, with the second goal being a moment of individual brilliance that capped off a perfect afternoon for Kigezi HomeBoyz. The Club Media managed to interview Seremba after full time and this is what he said about his world-class performance today; “We’ve won today, just as we promised our fans! I’m thrilled about my brace and I know our supporters are happy too. I want to assure everyone that a lot is being done behind the scenes, and we’re committed to fighting hard until we reach the UPL. ‘Together, we’ll make it happen!”- The POTM summed.
Captain Tukei also had this to say about the team’s performance today;
“Today, we had a great match against Ntugasaze FC, and I’m thrilled with our win! A big thank you to our fans for their amazing support, as well as to our coaches and fellow players.
“Looking ahead to our away matches, we’re eager to secure the wins we missed last season. Next Sunday, we face Gadhafi FC, and I promise we’ll give our all to bring home another victory!”
